From the Board of Trustees, September 2026
The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the adoption of the Bylaws of the St. Sava Academy Parent Network. The Bylaws give our parent community a clear and lasting structure through which parents, faculty, staff, trustees, and clergy work together in support of our students and the Orthodox Christian mission of the Academy.
Every parent and guardian of a currently enrolled student is automatically a member of the Parent Network. There are no dues, and each household has a vote. The Parent Network is led by an Executive Board made up of four elected officers, a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Communications Lead, and Treasurer, together with Grade-Level Representatives for grades K through 2, 3 through 5, and 6 through 8, who carry one vote for each grade level. A Teacher Representative, a School Liaison from the administration, and a Clergy Liaison serve in an advisory role. Officers and Grade Representatives are elected each spring by the membership, with nominations open to every parent.
The Parent Network meets at least four times during the school year, and all parents are invited to attend, offer feedback, and suggest initiatives. Its work centers on building community through school-wide social and cultural events, coordinating parent volunteers for events such as SerbFest, book fairs, field trips, and picnics, supporting fundraising approved by school leadership, and keeping families informed and connected.
The Board adopted this structure with a clear purpose in mind. Defined roles with defined responsibilities make it easier for any parent to see where they can contribute and to step forward with confidence. They also give the organization the visibility and transparency that a growing school community deserves.
